Review of Castelli Women's Perla Jersey

Review of Castelli Women's Perla Jersey

The Castelli Perla Jersey was not released again this year.  It is still important to review this jersey as
1) it is still available
2) it looks to be a very good jersey and
3) it can be compared to the new Winter '14 Castelli jerseys.

Reviewer: 5' 7'', 135 lbs, size small

Total Stars: 3 out of 5

Fit:
Overall:
The fit is good but it isn't long enough in back.
Length:
When wearing this on the bike with anything in the back pockets, the jersey looks too short.
Collar:
Comfortable/Not too tight
Sleeves:
Nice and long

Warmth:
This jersey is good in the 40's.  With a wind breaker, this jersey could be used at even lower temperatures.

Look:
 When not wearing:
The jersey appears nice and long.  Gorgeous looking jersey!
Wearing jersey off the bike/standing:
It is too short in the front.
When on the bike/leaning over one's handlebars:
If I put anything in the back pockets, the jersey looks too short in the back.  But, it is the perfect length in the front. (see photo below found online)

Overall Impression:
This jersey is not what I expected.  I expected a shinier, silkier fabric based on the photos that Castelli released. The jersey is not a soft pink but a loud medium pink color..almost fluoro. One positive is that the jersey arm stretches to twice it's size (it is very flexible fabric).

Best Part:
First, it is warm.  Secondly, the jersey zipper is the best looking part of the jersey.  However, the zipper does not zip the entire way (see picture below, will add soon).  Furthermore, the cuffs and collar are very nicely made.

Product as Expected:
No.  I wish I had bought Winter 14 cold weather jersey instead.

*For winter cycling wear, it'd be nice to have longer cycling tops.  Castelli seems to have fixed this on the Gabba jersey for Winter 14

Cheers!,
