Castelli Nomenclature

Castelli Nomenclature

A guide to the language of Castelli Cycling.  I will keep updating this page as Castelli releases new items. The inspiration for this blog is the LuluAddict blog

Rosso Corsa: translated, means "racing red."  Castelli designs these items to be lighter and to help you ride faster. RC is usually higher quality than other Castelli gear.

Ciao Scorpione: a fan blog with a sting in it's tail (a blog written and paid for by Castelli, sometimes with guest bloggers)

Castelli Cafe: a website for UK Castelli fans (the site does not ship outside the UK), sells special gear and memorabilia, sometimes has giveaways to win items, mascot is Dan "the bear" shown below

Castelli Gabba: short sleeve waterproof jersey, idea came from a Cervelo Test Team Rider named Gabriel Rasch (this can also refer to the long sleeve waterproof jersey)
Available in long sleeve for men and women, now.

Poggio: translated, means "small hill or mound", "knoll," or "hillock, " (also a winter Castelli jersey that is less fitted than the Transparente Wind jersey)

Trasparente: translated, means "transparent" or "see-through"

Confronto: translated, means "comparison" and senza confronti means "beyond comparison."  Castelli designed this jacket to have a hard shell rain protected jacket with some stretch/soft-shell feel.

Sorpasso: translated, means "overtaking" or "passing," and title used for Castelli winter bibshorts

Castelli Ass Saver: attaches to the back of your saddle and keeps water from hitting your butt in wet conditions, only good if you ride alone--otherwise, do your friends a favor and get fenders
